You are human! Like flesh and blood… and not some kind of
electrical circuit that just obeys every single command and takes no time out
to rest, brain dump, and actually regain lost strength, not until it eventually breakdown
which you probably want to avoid at all cost.
Planning for days ahead, which is more of a brain dump, seems like the
wisest thing to do when trying to stay ahead of certain events of your life.
Every successful entrepreneur believes in actually putting the work required to bring a project or task to completion, that is doing a brain dump or a mental dump, even without calling it by that name!
Which I believe you strongly yield into also, right?
Most times. it's just so easy to get carried away by over-tasking yourself with both necessary and unnecessary projects for a particular time frame, the majority being unnecessary projects.
Does this not blow
your mind?
Well, for me it does!
That is why in other to avoid that feeling of being overwhelmed about almost everything you do, such that your anxiety seems to creeps on the inside of you, it's just better to do one thing.
Stop right away and perceive something practical that I am going to be dropping
down below, which is what the term BRAIN
DUMPING OR A MENTAL DUMP is all about.
And if you feel this way, maybe it's just time to do a brain dump by writing down every single thing that is popping frequently in your head right now.
Loll, it sounds funny, right?
Anyway, it’s just something I learned while trying to
figure out how to stay sane in the midst of projects, side hustling, and
relationship.
The fun thing about a brain dump is that it doesn't take as much time as you expect because is more like a personal reflection [me-time] to look into yourself, the things you set out to do, what you are currently involved in, and the plans already in motion.
And you know what?
You literally can do a brain dump whenever you want to, whether in the morning, at bedtime, break time, or even at the pack most especially when you feel the need to do so, just to keep yourself back on track.
And that is the beautiful thing and one of the advantages of doing a brain for yourself!
So I have organized in this blog post, some basic yet strategic steps you could actually implement right away to stay sane and thus be productive in every work phase you find yourself, whether as a working student, a mom, a dad, or whatever activity you do as a person so let’s dive in.
Brain Dump Meaning
Do you know brain dumping is a fabulous way to stay productive as a working-class person? There's much less distraction and you will have a better chance of seeing the outcome of your big goals.
What is brain dumping?
It's when you pen down every activity you actually have in mind achieving for a set-out period of time.
Though it may look like it's a hard task to start, doesn't it? Especially when you are still trying to look for ways to organize your goals as an entrepreneur. But guess what?
It is an actionable task you can do right now!
First, you need to know which goals to work with. Maybe you noticed you are not progressing with your work life- but you should. Or you are lagging behind looming deadlines.
Once you outline these goals, write them down. You then organize them based on their relativity into:
.Personal goals
.Financial goals
From there, you can then set out a time working frame to tackle them all!
This can take a little bit of time but in the end, you will have a list of a well-organized plan for the entire month.
In your list make sure you include:
.Daily
.Weekly goals
.Monthly goals
.Quarterly goals
Now that you know what brain dumping is all about, it’s time to see these 5- strategic systems you could implement right away to save your working hours each and every time.
Why Do Brains Dump?
@upsplash |
Doing brain dumps as a person is actually necessary in order to stay sane and be productive at the same time.
Not the other way round. Overwhelmed. Frustrated. Worried. You name them! at yourself probably because you are not in line with what you actually have in mind to do.
Thus, two of the main reasons why you probably overwhelm yourself are that:
1. You Are Probably So Obsessed With Succeeding In Life
Which is not supposed to be so.
I get it, it seems totally right to go over and beyond to get to your set out goals and daily to-do lists.
And how do you classify being successful as a person other than when your weaknesses align with your strength, right?
But on second thought,
Why take a giant leap or a thousand
steps running almost at everything you do, when you could literally take a peaceful calm walk to achieve
whatever it is you intend to derive success in.
That's why no matter how ambitious you are or a
goal-getter dude, remember that not everything you find in life is worth
chasing after, so you have got to be strategic about this if it’s really worth
your ROI- the return of investment both in cash, time, and mental wellbeing.
So, that's why you probably need to do brain dumps to checkmate your wishes, desires, goals, or aspirations and how much of the time you are putting into achieving all of them.
2. You Happily Put Yourself In A Virtual Competition
Knowing fully well that in the real/physical world you are literally alone!
Well don’t get me wrong here- I mean there are cool friends out there who just makes your day lit!]!
What I am trying to point out is that you have got to learn how to move at your pace, one step at a time with
no pressure or negative competition.
Not comparing yourself and your business to
someone else is totally worth it because you will in the long run learn to love
what you do as a young person and eventually discover what really makes you
unique.
The distance between where you are now and where you literally want to be is just time and process!
So, now that you are pumped up with all these points being laid out you may be asking- how many hours a day should you work to be successful in order to meet up with your schedule?
Good question, remember that brain dump stuff you came across
earlier at the beginning of this post, the whole idea is just to empty out all
the ideas, worries, fears, or projects you have got in your head to carry out today or maybe in the future on a
sheet or in the blank pages of a book, preferably a bullet journal.
This is really helpful to keep you running with your projects in a particular month or for a particular time frame you probably set out for yourself.
No matter the nature of your work, side hustle, profession, or business!
So, in all, you can do a brain dump daily, weekly, or monthly, depending on how you feel you need to get more organized around your tasks or schedule.
I personally do all three because I tend to
be more focused with a specific goal in mind for that month and you too can.
In all brain dumping or whatever fancy name, you choose to call it, will definitely give you more control around your goals, and trust me it will.
What Is The Purpose Of Brain Dumping?
If you are new to doing brain dumps, and you want to really know how it can help you stay productive and effective every day, then the following reasons should convince you:
.You get to see your thoughts on a piece of paper
.This would give you clarity and streamlined focus
.You would be able to think straight instead of feeling overwhelmed with anxiety
.You constantly tend to get new insights to doing your stuff
.You tend to see why you always feel disorganized and ineffective, thus find ways to avoid such from happening again
.You will move faster as your thoughts are now in synchrony both in your head and in your journal
.You will become more creative at what you do
